Barbara Tanze

Barbara Tanze is Breathing Coach and owner of Voice up!.
Barbara’s studio is in Slovenia. But you can work online with her.

Barbara helps singers and athletes to excel by optimising their breathing mechanics, increasing their CO₂ tolerance and breathing exclusively through the nose – unless swimming.

The positioning of our rib cage and its mobility is Barbara’s pet issue. Her skeleton on a string her best mate. Barbara has tons of experience finding tension in your body affecting your breathing. And she can tell you which exercises fix it.

Barbara is very creative with her teaching. A master of visualisation! Following her on Instagram is a must! Every little detail she mentions is for a reason and well thought through!

Barbara knows FAR more than most! But she is very humble. Everything she teaches she practices herself. And her vast experience in teaching helps her help you even better!

If you have a problem, let her help you solve it. May it be related to the biomechanics, biochemistry, cadence, air pressure, voice, working with children – she teaches only what she has practised thoroughly! And that is an awful lot! I expect her to be well known for her work one day! Barbara Tanze is a hidden gem!

There are so many reasons that could have led you to Barbara. Check out those experts as well:

Christina Roberts runs ultramarathon and coaches athletes. She started to implement more and more breathing into her work. It is a very good idea to run marathons with nasal breathing only!
Just like Barbara, Emma Farrell is coaching athletes on their breathing to win gold medals at the Olympics.
And if you are a musician see how Deanna Swoboda and Ruth Phillips implement breathing. It helped them overcome severe issues.

Barbara Tanze wrote this thesis when she became a Level 1 practitioner of MDH Breathing Coordination. (That was long ago. She was one of the first level 2 practitioners!) As a mother, she knows how important it is for parents and teachers to prevent bad breathing habits from forming. Follow her on Instagram. And keep your eyes peeled for anything you can utilise when educating children. Barbara uses balloons to demonstrate airflow, for example. Be creative and see what you can use to playfully and secretly teach children better breathing habits.
